USING YOUR IOUs
TO DIRECT YOU TOWARDS YOUR NORTH STAR
As an example, I’d like to share my own IOUs and experience of using them. I have come to know that my IOUs are MUSIC, WRITING, WISDOM, ENCOURAGEMENT and INFLUENCE. As I look back over my sixty years, I can reflect on the many times that I have used those IOUs in different situations and the effect that has had. But what I have also come to know is that when I am fulfilling a role that requires me to use ALL 5 of my IOUs at the same time, I am truly living my bliss, my true purpose.
Take a little time to sit with your IOUs and think about how and when they have shown up in your life. How have you used them in the past? How do you feel inside when you are accessing and using those parts of you that are so ingrained in who you are?
I’d like you to think about each of those five IOUs as points of a star. Something like this:
Imagine if you will, that each time you find you are able to use or offer your IOU that point of the star lighting up and shining your brilliance out into the world around you, affecting and lighting the way for another person. Think about how you feel when that happens in your own life experience.
Now imagine the brilliance if you are using more than one of your IOUs in any given circumstance. The brighter you shine, the more you light up the world and the people around you, because you are aligned with your own deepest purpose and potential.
